Evolving from the existing structures put in place previously by Rosevear Architects in 2005, Milieu Creative took upon a full interior and architectural renovation of the Bay House residence to match the new clients: a young family with collections of expressive art.
Starting from the exterior, the previous boxed street façade is replaced with floor-to-ceiling glass panels flanking the first floor. Discrete timber screens and lush rooftop landscaping further elevates the architectural detail while providing privacy. These adjustment allow the house to blend into its surrounding.
With a brief that focused on bringing an aspect of warmth and sophistication to the multi-layered home, a selection of modern and elegant finishes were selected and detailed throughout, allowing the character of the young family to be expressed. Layers of rich walnut, coffee stained timbers, and veneers are found throughout the home, creating warmth and outlining design details in the custom joinery. In turn, the modern design of the home’s interior focuses on creating clean lines that emphasis the breathtaking coastal views from each level.
On the ocean side, rooms are positioned to captivate the views, framing them like a piece of art through the updated windows and doors. Spectacular moments have also been created for the master en suite bath, master bedroom, open plan kitchen, dining and living area as they take front of the stage over-looking Gordon’s Bay. On the other side, views facing inward expansive walls are placed to showcase the client’s collection of expressive art, allowing for the street facing rooms to also hold personality alongside new garden landscaping.
