The clients purchased a water site in a small floating community in San Francisco. The surrounding area was once an industrial area and the final house shape took on that of a saw-toothed factory that once stood nearby. The house is sheathed with durable painted metal siding and roofing reminiscent of modern maritime shipping containers. Large small-paned warehouse-style windows add to the industrial imagery. The clients required a great room on the top floor to take in the views and light. The saw-tooth roof admits natural daylight from above while large windows frame downtown views across the water. Inside, the stair is painted the same orange color as the famous Golden Gate Bridge. Outside, the white forms are reminiscent of sailboats, or cresting waves.
